As we all know, the whole world and Israel are currently in a difficult situation to enter and travel. However, if anyone is thinking about visiting Israel in the future, I would like to share some historical, geographic, cultural and local tips to see. That is why I want to share with the Chabad On Campus community my top 6 favorite destinations.
1. Metula
It is known as the northernmost city, popular as a tourist destination, especially for school children during the summer holidays. One of the closest mountains is Hermon Mountain, where all the families wait for snowfall to go there during the winter break and have some good skiing.
2. Kiryat Shmona
This city has an important meaning for its name. The word “Shmona” means the number eight. This is because of the eight brave leaders who defended a nearby town called Tel Hai. There are many famous kibbutzim around it. Children and families enjoy kayaking here in the summer.
3. Haifa
This is the third-largest city in Israel. A famous landmark in the city is the Bahai Garden, from which tourists can view the entire city. Haifa is also known for the Carmel Mountains, which are great for hiking, but you may have to be careful with the wild boars that wander there.
It is known for its famous beaches and has the largest port in Israel. The nearby town of Zichron Ya’akov is famous for its vineyards and music festivals held in the summer.
4. Tel-Aviv
The modern city of Israel. It is the city where the first Prime Minister, David Ben-Gurion, declared Israel’s independence. Tel-Aviv is close to the Mediterranean sea, has many clubs, famous restaurants and fantastic festivals.
If you are looking for good food, visit the Carmel Market, where you can buy many good things and enjoy food from many different cultures. From the Ashkenazi, Sepharadi and Mizrachi cuisine.
5. Jerusalem
The capital of Israel is one of the oldest cities in the world. Jerusalem is known for many religious purposes but is also known for two famous universities. Betzalel, where students graduate in art and architecture, and the Hebrew University which specializes in international relations and studies in the Middle East.
Jerusalem’s well-known market is the “Mahane Yehuda” where you can find all food, drinks and a great atmosphere. The famous dish “Meorav Yerushalmi” is a must.
6. Eilat
“Israel’s Las Vegas” is Israel’s southernmost city. Eliat has the highest temperatures in all of Israel and can reach 50 degrees in the summer. A must visit is the Dolphinarium, where families and tourists can take diving courses and swim with dolphins.
Another great location to visit is “Mosh’s Beach” where you can enjoy good food and music – watching the sunset on the Red Sea.
